Youth Voices Youth Power Campaign

The Community Enrichment Project's youth elevated their voices through the 2023 "Youth Voices Youth Power" campaign, a DC Action and American University Humanities Truck project designed to collect and amplify young people’s stories. The videos included in the anthropological project tell their stories and explore issues surrounding identity, trauma, public health, school, adults, and more.

CEP Youth attend United Nations Summit

The annual GES Summit, held at the United Nations (UN) hosted over 1,000 leaders, students, advocates, and young professionals and focused on maximizing collective impact. CEP youth attended, networked, and learned about topics ranging from humanitarian aid to cultural preservation.

This year's theme was “Empowered and Emboldened for Impact.” Attendees were empowered to let international decisionmakers and the UN know they support meaningful actions that will improve the lives of people, promote justice, and increase the sustainability of our planet.

Having actual seats at the tables international leaders convene at was embolding within itself. Participating in the sessions at the UN only further increased CEP’s youth's feelings of efficacy as young leaders determined to enhance global affairs, protect cultures, and achieve SDGs.

CEP Featured on WJLA News

The Community Enrichment Project was featured on WJLA News on a segment focused on the need for youth engagement programs to help keep youth engaged during breaks from school.

“With the 50,204 students enrolled in D.C. Public Schools counting down the days until they are off 11 days for the holidays, MPD and community organizations are preparing to make sure every kid stays out of trouble and makes it back when classes pick back up. Lauren Grimes is the founder of The Community Enrichment Project, an organization devoted to engaging with children of the community. She said she understands not having classes or after school programs over the holidays leaves behind a vacuum, which is why her organization engages with the children over these breaks.” Read more and check out the full news segment here.
